« A map is a map » is a show propound by the french artistic collective « Bivouac ». This exhibition follows a two months artistic residency on Suō-Ōshima island. Thought of as a halt, between time spent in Japan and the work the members of the collective will continue in France, the show reflects their impressions of the territory they explored. Inspired by the culture of tatami mats, which overlap, isolate, crowd and associate, each artist will present their work on a size equivalent to one of these mats. The underlying space games will then be a subjective way of representing their research time spent in a Japanese house, the possible links between the works and the sensitivity of each.
「MAP IS A MAP」はフランス人アーティスト集団「Bivouac（ビバーク）」によるグループ展です。
本展に先立ちアーティストたちは作品制作のため２ヶ月間、周防大島に滞在しました。
滞在制作を終えフランスに帰国する前に、メンバーそれぞれが日本で過ごした時間を振り返り、探求した分野のリサーチ結果や印象が作品に反映されています。その配置によって自由自在に空間を変える”畳”というものに触発され、6人のアーティストたちは一人1畳分のサイズ、合わせて6畳分の作品を発表します。
日本家屋で生活する中で感じたことや気づきをそれぞれの感受性を通して表現することを試みます。
